Attorneys
William C. Power

William C. Power was born in Morgantown, West Virginia on January 19, 1959. He is a 1977 graduate of Martinsburg High School and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude in 1981 and graduate degree (J.D. 1984) from West Virginia University. Mr. Power is licensed to practice in West Virginia, Maryland, and the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia and the District of Maryland. He is a member of the Berkeley County, West Virginia and Maryland Bar Associations and the West Virginia and Maryland State Bar. Mr. Power is a former clerk for the Honorable Charles H. Haden, II, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and former staff attorney and hearing examiner for the West Virginia Workers' Compensation Fund. He is one of the founding partners of Power, Beck & Matzureff. Mr. Power concentrates his practice in workers' compensation, social security disability, employment law and personal injury claims. Recently, Mr. Power was recognized as one of the top 50 workers' compensation attorneys in West Virginia. Mr. Power represents many individual clients. His family has been in the Martinsburg community for more than 60 years and both his grandfather and father were well-known local physicians. Mr. Power resides in Martinsburg.

Barry P. Beck

Barry P. Beck was born in Norfolk, Virginia on August 31, 1960. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from James Madison University in 1982. In 1986, Mr. Beck received his law degree from the West Virginia University College of Law, where he graduated in the top 15% of his class. After graduation from law school, Mr. Beck was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army Judge Advocate General's Corps. He attended the Judge Advocate General's School, where he graduated with honors from the Judge Advocate Officer Basic Course. Mr. Beck then served as the Assistant Staff Judge Advocate for the United States Army Strategic Defense Command in Huntsville, Alabama. Upon his discharge from the Army in 1989, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal. Mr. Beck is one of the founding partners of Power, Beck & Matzureff. His practice focuses on employment law, personal injury and criminal law. Mr. Beck is licensed to practice law in West Virginia and Virginia, and is admitted before the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, the United States court of appeals for the Fourth Circuit, United States Army Court of Military Review and the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia and Western District of Virginia. Mr. Beck serves as a mediator for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia and the 23rd Judicial Circuit Court of West Virginia. He is also a member of the Local Rules Committee for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia.

James J. Matzureff

James J. Matzureff was born in Washington, D.C. on September 22, 1961 and graduated from Musselman High School in 1979. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree studies (English) from Shepherd College in 1983 and his Juris Doctor degree from Mississippi College School of Law in 1986. Mr. Matzureff was first admitted to the West Virginia State Bar in 1987 and is also licensed to practice in the District of Columbia. He is admitted to practice before various federal courts, including the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia, the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. Mr. Matzureff is an active member of the American Bar Association, the West Virginia State Bar, the West Virginia Bar Association and the West Virginia Trial Lawyers Association. He is a founding partner of Power, Beck & Matzureff and practices primarily in the areas of personal injury, medical malpractice and insurance bad faith. His litigation experience also includes products liability cases, contract law cases and appellate practice and procedure. Mr. Matzureff is an associate professor on the graduate faculty of Central Michigan University and teaches law-related courses for the University's graduate degree programs.
